With deep sadness we mourn the untimely death of Dave Carr, who championed Playwrights Project for the past 25 years. Dave was a deeply invested supporter and Board member, only rotating off the Board and onto the Finance Committee when term limits precluded Board membership, and then returning again.
While Dave loved all of Playwrights Project’s programs, he cared most about the overall health of the organization. Taking leadership roles for decades, he guided us with his financial expertise, entrepreneurial skills, and talent for innovating new business models. With wit and acumen, Dave brought a lighthearted common sense approach to even the most arduous conversations.
Sadly, Dave suffered a brain hemorrhage in early August. He fought for months to regain his strength, helped by devoted family members and friends. He died on October 30 from complications of the brain hemorrhage.
Dave developed lasting friendships and was dearly loved by his Playwrights Project family. We send our deepest condolences to his wife Vicki and his children Sara, Liam and Danny and his extended circle of family and friends. We will miss his warm smile, comforting presence, and sage advice. He will live on in our hearts and memories.
Dave's family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Dave's memory to Playwrights Project.
