Alumni Highlights
Playwrights Project is proud of our program alumni who continue to touch hearts through their passion for writing and the arts.
Some of our esteemed Plays by Young Writers alumni include:
- Josefina López is an award-winning pioneer of Latinx-American theatre, whose play Real Women Have Curves is now a Tony-nominated Broadway musical.
- Lauren Yee was recognized as the second most produced playwright in the nation in 2023. Her plays Cambodian Rock Band and The Great Leap are both included in the list of the Top 10 Most-Produced Plays of the 2019-20 Season.
- Rian Johnson is a screenwriter, director, and producer. His movies include Looper, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and the Knives Out film series.
- Andy Lowe was Executive Director of Asian American Repertory Theatre and Director of Production and Casting at East West Players in Los Angeles
- Annie Weisman’s plays include Be Aggressive and Hold Please. She has many TV credits as well, including her series Physical on Apple TV.
