Beyond Prison Walls 2026
Playwrights Project partners with San Diego State University to present the 12th season of Beyond Prison Walls. This year’s co-production of Beyond Prison Walls features: Beyond Sentences, a play devised by Playwrights Project’s Returned Writers Circle.
Vignettes along the prison pipeline highlight causative factors, realities of incarceration, and the joy and struggle of reentry. Selections were written by writers who are incarcerated at Centinela and Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facilities, teens studying criminal justice, and individuals who have returned home after incarceration.
Students in SDSU’s School of Theatre, Television and Film will direct and perform a staged reading of the script.
