Beyond Sentences is a new play devised by Playwrights Project’s Returned Writers Circle. Vignettes along the prison pipeline highlight causative factors, realities of incarceration, and the joy and struggle of reentry. Selections were written by writers who are incarcerated at Centinela and Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facilities, individuals who have returned home after incarceration, and teens studying criminal justice.
Beyond Sentences will tour to schools and community centers in San Diego throughout November 2026. The show lasts approximately one hour and includes a post-performance discussion. See below for more details about the show.
